Two rescue dogs, one water mini shoot
Bradley and Frankie are best mates who are both looking for their forever homes! I recently photographed them at Lake Gnangara to help them get noticed and I could not be more excited to share how it all went.
Good photos matter so much for rescue dogs because a kennel can be a stressful place where a dog doesn’t always get to show their best side. A photo of a dog mid-splash tells people something a kennel card never could. It shows exactly who that dog is when they get to just be a dog!
Who made it happen
WAGD is a Perth local business that makes amazing harnesses and they jumped on board with me, Haggie Snaps, to make this shoot happen. WAGD sponsored one dog while I sponsored the other so both dogs got to be part of the day. All of the photos are going to Dogs’ Refuge Home to help the pair find their people!
Why a water mini shoot you ask?
Because it’s so much fun, especially for young, social and energetic dogs like these two! I was offering water minis at the time and Carly from WAGD spotted one of my posts and came up with the idea, which turned out to be a perfect fit. Dogs are often at their happiest in the water and that joy is exactly what people fall for. It also gave Bradley and Frankie a fun day out, which is something they don’t get a lot of in care.
How the shoot went
Both dogs had an absolute ball! They were so excited to be out and about and they loved having a break from the pound. Lake Gnangara gave them plenty of room to splash around and be completely themselves.
Handling two excited dogs near water takes a lot of skill and patience so a huge thank you goes to Pier from Dogs’ Refuge Home and Lauren from Canine Conversations, who helped massively and handled the dogs on the day. The shoot simply wouldn’t have worked without them!
Meet Bradley
Bradley arrived at Dogs’ Refuge Home from the South Perth pound on 20 March 2026 after being found as a stray. He’s a young dog who is still learning how to navigate the world around him and new situations can sometimes leave him feeling unsure. He loves to explore at his own pace and does best in a home that lets him take things slowly.
With consistent, positive training Bradley will grow in confidence and begin to understand what is expected of him. A playful and tolerant doggy sibling would be a wonderful match for him!
Bradley would suit a family who is committed to helping him learn and who can give him plenty of outlets for his energy and curiosity. A home that lets him take things at his own speed will bring out the very best in him.
Meet Frankie
Frankie made the long journey from Geraldton to Perth on 18 April 2026 and found herself a home on 27 April. Sadly she was returned a month later through no fault of her own, because of some excitable puppy mouthing. Now she’s back and ready to take another chance at finding her furever family!
Frankie needs committed and understanding owners who are ready to support a younger dog through her training journey. Positive reward-based classes or one on one sessions are a must for this girl to help her refine some skills and manners.
She will do best in a calm and quiet home with limited foot traffic and someone around more often than not so she feels settled and supported. She also needs a suitably matched doggy brother who can help her mirror appropriate behaviours and keep her company in the home.
Together or apart
Bradley and Frankie have become the very best of friends in the refuge’s care and they share a lovely bond. If the right home can provide for both of their needs they could be adopted together, which would be amazing!
Otherwise the refuge prefers separate homes with playful dog siblings because that gives each dog the best shot at success. Whichever way it goes, both of these dogs are looking for a home that is patient and kind.
Interested in Bradley or Frankie?
Dogs’ Refuge Home is taking adoption or foster enquiries so please get in touch with them directly to meet either dog. If you’re not quite ready to adopt you can ask them about fostering instead!
Need an amazing trainer like Lauren or Pier that love to work with rescue dogs?
Both dogs will do best with positive reward-based training so if you would like to work with a qualified trainer the IMDT trainer directory is a great place to start!
Pier from Dogs’ Refuge Home and Lauren from Canine Conversations are both IMDT trainers and they were the ones who made this shoot happen by handling Bradley and Frankie on the day. Their patience and skill kept two very excited dogs on track and it shows in every photo. If you would like to work with trainers like these two you can search the directory to find a qualified IMDT trainer near you!
